Unsubscribe links & staying compliant
Why every email needs an unsubscribe link and how to add one.
Every marketing email you send must let the recipient opt out with one click. It's a legal requirement in most countries and it protects your deliverability.
Add the unsubscribe link
In the template editor, add a link and set its target to the unsubscribe merge tag (often shown as {{unsubscribe_link}}). HexaFloww turns it into a working per-recipient link at send time.
Most templates put it in the footer along with your business name and address.
The campaign wizard warns you when a selected template has no unsubscribe link, but it won't stop you sending. Add the link — an email without one is far more likely to be marked as spam.
What happens on unsubscribe
When someone clicks it, they're added to the email suppression list for that project immediately, and excluded from every future email send. You don't need to do anything.
Good practice
- Include your real business name and a postal address in the footer.
- Don't make people log in or fill a form to unsubscribe — one click is the standard.
- Honour opt-outs that arrive by other means (reply, phone) by adding them to the suppression list by hand.
