# Connect WhatsApp — Automatic Setup

Automatic Setup is the fastest way to connect a WhatsApp number. A single popup from Meta walks you through picking (or creating) your WhatsApp Business Account and phone number, and HexaFloww finishes the rest.

> **Before you start**
> - You need the **Admin** or **Manager** role.
> - You need a Facebook account with access to a **Meta Business** (or the ability to create one in the popup).
> - The phone number you want to use must be able to receive an SMS or call to verify it, and must not already be active on a personal WhatsApp or WhatsApp Business app. If it is, use [Coexistence](https://hexafloww.com/docs/connect-accounts/connect-whatsapp-coexistence.md) instead.

> The **Automatic Setup** button only appears when your HexaFloww instance has Embedded Signup configured. If you don't see it, use [Manual setup](https://hexafloww.com/docs/connect-accounts/connect-whatsapp-manual.md).

## Connect your number

1. **Open the WhatsApp connect page.** Sidebar → **Connect Accounts** → **WhatsApp**, or go to `/admin/connect-accounts/whatsapp`.
2. **Click "Connect New WhatsApp Number".** This opens Meta's Embedded Signup popup. Keep the popup open until it finishes — don't close it or navigate away.

3. **Sign in and choose your business.** Log in with Facebook and select the Meta Business that should own this number, or create one.
4. **Pick or create the WhatsApp Business Account and number.** Choose an existing WhatsApp Business Account or create a new one, then add the phone number and verify it with the code Meta sends by SMS or call.

5. **Finish and return to HexaFloww.** When the popup closes, HexaFloww exchanges the sign-in, subscribes your number to webhooks, and adds it to the **Connected Numbers** list. This takes a few seconds.

## One WhatsApp number per project

> Each project can have **one active WhatsApp number**. Once one is connected, the "Connect a number" card disappears. To use a different number, disconnect the current one first, or use a separate project — see [Switching workspace](https://hexafloww.com/docs/getting-started/switching-workspace.md).

## Common problems

- **Popup closed before finishing** — nothing is saved. Start again and complete every step.
- **"Number already registered"** — the number is in use on a WhatsApp app. Remove it from the app first, or connect with [Coexistence](https://hexafloww.com/docs/connect-accounts/connect-whatsapp-coexistence.md).
- **Connected but stuck "Pending"** — Meta is still verifying the number. Refresh the page after a few minutes; if it persists, check WhatsApp Manager in Meta Business Manager.
